Karun Nair's Early Years and Family
He was born on December 6, 1991, in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, but grew up in Bangalore. Karun's father, Kaladharan, is a mechanical engineer and his mother, Prema, is a teacher. Both his parents live in Bangalore.
Karun dated Sanaya Tankariwala for several years until their wedding in 2020. In 2020, Karun Nair and Sanaya Tankariwala married in Udaipur, adhering to both Parsi and Malyali traditions. The couple's son and daughter are named Kayaan and Samara, respectively.
Karun Nair's Career and Statistics
He had a terrific first-class season in 2013-14, helping Karnataka sweep the Irani and Ranji titles. In addition to scoring the winning six that ended Karnataka's 15-year drought without a Ranji trophy, he scored hundreds in three consecutive Ranji matches, including the quarterfinals and semi-finals. The following season, as Karnataka defended their Ranji title, he scored a triple-century despite a streak of bad scores.
Karun went to Vidarbha and has been a consistent performer. The 2024-25 season was one of his most successful, with 779 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, including five hundreds, and an impressive average of 389.50. He extended this form into the Ranji Trophy final, where he led Vidarbha to victory, scoring 86 and 135 in both innings against Kerala to help his team win its third title.
Karun Nair’s IPL Career
He made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013. Following an outstanding debut Ranji season, he was selected by the Rajasthan Royals for the 2014 IPL season. He took full most of the occasion, scoring 330 runs in 11 games that season, including three fifties.
2016 was a good year for him because it not only turned out to be his best season in the IPL, as he scored 357.
Karun Nair was bought by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 50 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction after a sensational domestic cricket season with Vidarbha. After a two-year layoff, he returned to the Indian Premier League, scoring 89 runs off 40 balls for the Delhi Capitals against the Mumbai Indians in New Delhi.
He has enough of experience, having scored 1585 runs, including 11 fifties, in 77 IPL outings.
